Chelsea are working hard to add their defensive options this summer.

Having already lost Antonio Rüdiger, Andreas Christensen and César Azpilicueta being linked with a move to Barcelona, the Blues need new defensive additions.

Matthijs de Ligt is a player Chelsea have been attempting to sign and Juventus’ CEO has been speaking about the defender’s future.

“It is impossible to keep a player who wants to leave”

Juventus’ CEO, Maurizio Arrivabene, has suggested that the club are open to discussing a deal to sell de Ligt.

He acknowledges keeping hold of a player who wants to leave is very difficult, further hinting at the defender’s departure.

However, the right offer, which satisfies all three parties, needs to be made and according to reports, Chelsea are currently short of Juve’s valuation.

Arrivabene told Tuttosport:

“Today it is impossible to keep a player who wants to leave.”

“But it’s always a question of numbers, it’s not that if someone wants to leave, you answer them: please, take a seat.”

“It is difficult to keep a player, but from the negotiation table all three have to get up satisfied. And the fifth article always applies: whoever has the money has won.”
