German icon Mesut Ozil has, on Thursday, unveiled his latest club landing spot.

The future of attacking midfielder Ozil, of course, had been thrown back up in the air in a major way over the course of the last couple of weeks.

This came after incoming Fenerbahce boss Jorge Jesus made clear upon his arrival that the one-time Arsenal standout would not be reintegrated into his setup in Istanbul, after being banished to the stands under the watch of the club’s previous interim manager.

‘He had his time, his space,’ Jesus explained. ‘He has a beautiful history in Turkey, nobody can take it away from him. He is a well-known player around the world. But I will follow exactly what was the end of the Ozil era.’

Such confirmation, in turn, left Ozil facing up to the prospect of a season watching on from the sidelines.

In fact, it even led to speculation in the media that the 33-year-old was giving consideration to walking away from football for good, to instead pursue a career in online gaming.

As alluded to above, however, this, for the time being at least, does not look set to prove the case.

This comes with Ozil, on Thursday, having taken to social media to reveal that he has put pen to paper on terms with another of the Turkish Super Lig’s top clubs.

The outfit in question? Istanbul Basaksehir:

After an agreement was reached between the veteran and Fenerbache to terminate his contract two years early, Ozil was quickly snapped up by Basaksehir, putting pen to paper on a one-year contract, featuring the option for a 2nd.
