Footage of a frankly remarkable own goal netted by Chelsea star Reece Jame during the club’s latest pre-season outing has gone viral online.

Amid their ongoing efforts to prepare for the fast-approaching new Premier League campaign, Thomas Tuchel’s troops were back in action in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Making the trip to Las Vegas as part of the club’s tour of the United States, the Blues faced off against Mexican outfit Club America, in a friendly clash.

And, when all was said and done, the quality of the Premier League giants proved telling, en route to a 2-1 triumph for Tuchel and co.

Timo Werner was first on target early in the 2nd-half, before Mason Mount rounded out the game’s scoring inside the closing ten minutes of action.

As alluded to above, though, it was in fact a goal netted by one of Chelsea’s stars at the wrong end of the pitch which, in the game’s aftermath, went on to steal the headlines.

The moment in question arrived on the hour mark at the Allegiant Stadium, when Reece James attempted to roll the ball back to Marcus Bettinelli behind him.

Failing to realise that his goalkeeper had made his way to the right side of his goal, though, James only succeeded in placing the ball neatly into the far bottom corner of the Chelsea net.
