An insight into Manchester United’s plans for 2022/23 has been provided recently.

Martial returned to Manchester United this summer following a very underwhelming loan stint with Sevilla.

Before that, the Frenchman had been very disappointing when tasked with leading the line for United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

As a result, it seemed obvious that Martial would be moved on this summer to make way for a new striker or two.

However, Martial has since scored three goals in three pre-season matches and, as we know, pre-season is a true test of how a side will perform in the upcoming campaign.

Now, reports from the Daily Mail have confirmed that Martial will be staying at the club this summer, with Erik ten Hag ruling out the possibility of a sale.

It is added that, even if Cristiano Ronaldo returns to training next week, Martial will still start 2022/23 up top for United:

“Martial rejoined United this summer and has suddenly been propelled from an outcast to the club’s No 1 striker on their tour of Thailand and Australia.

“From looking like he was on his way, the 26-year-old is now nailed on to stay after Erik ten Hag ruled out the possibility of him being sold.

“Even if Ronaldo was to return to training next week — which seems unlikely — Martial is set to start the season up front after seizing his second chance with both hands.”
