Niger’s military-appointed prime minister says contacts have been made for a withdrawal of French forces from the country following the coup there in July. He told reporters though that Niger still wishes to maintain cooperation with France. Paris has refused to acknowledge the coup leaders as the legitimate govt and similarly ignored announcements cancelling military agreements.
