The World Food Program this week sounded the alarm over growing food insecurity in the Sahel as it published its latest report on the region. « Nearly 15 million people will be concerned by food insecurity by June 2024 across West and Central Africa, » FRANCE 24’s correspondent Harold Girard said, citing the WFP. Central Sahel is one of the most affected areas due to ongoing conflicts and political instability, according to the report. « In Niger, four million people depend on humanitarian assistance, » Girard said.
