Brentford star Ivan Toney has taken to social media this weekend, to provide a lighthearted response to news of Aleksandar Mitrovic’s latest goal.
For those not aware, Fulham striker Mitrovic is currently in the midst of the most remarkable of goalscoring seasons.
Amid the efforts of Marco Silva’s men to secure a swift return to the Premier League, their Serbian international hitman has proven the standout performer, to guide his side to the summit of the Championship table.
Mitrovic’s latest strike came on Saturday, when he bagged the only goal of the game en route to a 1-0 win over Hull City.
And, in the process, the Fulham standout secured for himself an impressive piece of football history in England’s 2nd-tier.
As confirmed post-match, Mitrovic’s latest goal came as his 31st of the Championship campaign, equalling the record-setting haul bagged by Brentford star Ivan Toney in 2020/21:
Aleksandar Mitrović has equaled Ivan Toney’s Championship era record of 31 goals in a season with his goal today in Fulham’s 1-0 win over Hull ???

Mitro’s tally, though, of course comes with over a third of the term still to be played.
Fellow hitman Toney, in the knowledge that his record is not only set to be broken, but likely smashed, therefore took to social media on Saturday night, to provide a lighthearted response to the situation:

Carvalho set for Liverpool
Elsewhere on the Fulham front, a major update on the future of a fellow member of the club’s attack has been forthcoming on Sunday evening.
The player in question comes in the form of highly-regarded starlet Fabio Carvalho, long firmly in the sights of Premier League heavyweights Liverpool.
And, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then the Reds look set to land their man imminently, amid the claim that an agreement has been reached over the framework of a deal to send Carvalho to Anfield in the summer:
Update… the framework of an agreement is in place for Fabio Carvalho to join Liverpool. Fulham have floated the prospect of the player being loaned to them next season so the fine details are still to be resolved. Liverpool keen to get it done quickly #LFC pic.twitter.com/q05FUxh1qC
